The city of Khmelnytsky is mentioned for the first time in history in the chronicle at the end of the 15th century. In the 1954 the city was renamed from Proskuriv to Khmelnytsky in honour of the great statesman and leader of the Cossacks, Bohdan Khmelnytsky.

Kamianets-Podilsky is one of the oldest cities in the Khmelnytsky region, Ukraine, and even Europe.There are more then 100 historical architectural relics in Kamianets-Podilsky. The Old Fortress is a marvellous edifice system, formed over a long period of time - from the 13th to the 18th centuries.

The fortification system of Kamianets-Podilsky has no match in all of Europe. The Castle's Bridge was included on the List of 100 architecture monuments which are under UNESCO protection.
